My son called the other day and asked me if I could give him some money so he could lend it to his friend who was stuck in Denver. Now I don't like to be harsh but I really don't like lending money to my immediate family, much less their friends. I suggested that he go to one of those title loans denver places since he had his car. He did and they did get him some money so all is well. Geez, I wish people wouldn't even ask me these things.

Oh I think this is funny. I've been dogging my husband for years about getting a hobby. He always said, he doesn't have the time. Well we are both retired now and I usually paint or blog and he still did nothing. Anyway, today a box comes to the house from a yoyo store ? What? Yep, he has decided to take up playing with and collecting yoyos. This is too funny.

My allergies are killing me

Well, it's starting again. These allergies of mine are killer. I wake up sneezing, go through the day, not being able to breathe and sneezing even more. By night time I am exhausted and still sneezing. Last year we were on vacation and it got so bad I had to go see an austin allergist to get a prescription. Wow, I guess I need to go get tested.

My son finally closed on his house! I am so glad because he was getting really distressed because of all the little issues that held it up. He, my husband and some others are there right now painting the whole place. Once he gets in, he has a small house that needs fixed up. Supposedly some of his friends will come to help him. The rent from that will cover two thirds of his house payment. Then he also has a pad on the property, so as so as he can he plans to go look at mobile homes . If he can get one on there and get it rented he'll be making money on this purchase!

Ever heard that phrase? Probably not, because I made it up. It is what I call myself. I remember for years I thought coupons were a pain in the butt and not worth bothering with. Well, that being said, I have made a radical change. I scour papers and magazines for coupons and I never buy anything online until I search to see if there are any coupons codes. It's true! I have saved so much money in the last three years I lost count! People chuckle at me but I'm the one chuckling when I show them my receipts! Now I'm going to let you in on a secret. That's right, I'm going to tell you where I get my coupon codes. It is a place called dropdowndeals dot com. If you want to save money, bookmark that site and Always check it before you buy something. You'll be amazed how much money they can save you! I love it!

I finally convinced my boss to log onto http://www.directstartv.com/ and get a television in the break room. When I first started working at my current job, where I have been for five years, we had the worst break roomthat you could imagine. The room basically looked like a jail cell. There was a plastic topped fold down rectangular table with four matching chairs. There was also a small mini fridge. For an office of fifteen people, a mini fridge just wasn’t cutting it. Everyone would leave the office at lunch and make sure that they took the entire hour before they got back. Usually people were really late. My boss would always get on to people and complain about their tardiness. Finally, I just told him that if he jazzed up the break room, he probably wouldn’t have a problem with everyone in the office being back from lunch. So on Thanksgiving break last year, when we got back, the break room was an oasis. NO one minded being at the office during lunch time because it was actually enjoyable. This year, after a whole year of waiting we have a television to watch during lunch time. I love it!

I've always wanted to buy gold

I always thought it would be cool to invest in gold coins... just when I was going to start the price of gold skyrocketed. It seem sot have come down just a little and is staying stable so I think now is the time for me (though I can't tell you how sorry I am that I didn't do it years ago when I first thought of it.) Anyway, I think I am going to start with a Golden Eagle gold bullion . Once I make the first purchase I think it will be easier to stay focused.

My son's friend is an amazing musician. I don't know how many instruments he plays, but it's a lot. I have a piano sitting in my front room and when he comes over it's like a concert in here. He is so good that I am forever trying to come up with reasons to have him over. How nice an evening is with dinner wine and piano! Christmas he came with ibanez guitars He played guitar as beautifully as he does the piano

Before Christmas I went to visit a friend of mine in California. It was a short jaunt connected with business, but nice nonetheless. At any rate, my friend took me to some a furniture stores los angeles and I was quite surprised to such a variety of designs. I never thought it would be different than where I live, but it sure was! We had fun picking out her new stuff.

It's the New Year

Yep and guess what? I'm back to looking for a way to get into shape! I have made a new plan for this year. And to be honest, I actually started my plan already and have lost ten pounds. This year instead of looking for the one solution, I am going to change what I am doing every four weeks. I started with a soup diet. Next will be HCG diet Austin

Last year, I found a show on direct tv colorado that really changed my perspective on how we are feeding our kids in this day and age. The show, “Food Revolution” with Jamie Oliver featured different areas of the United States with alarming rates of childhood disease and obesity. As Jamie dug into the lunchrooms around America, it was shocking to see the poor quality of food that our children are being served each day in public schools. What was also more startling was to see the lack of education being offered both at school and at home in terms of food choices, nutrition, and exercise. Most kids spend a minimum of two hours each parked in front of a television or computer. Very little time is spent exercising or even in play or physical activity of any sort. Kids have very little knowledge of portion sizes or even the names of common fruits and vegetables. It is time we create our own revolutions staring at home. It is vital for the sake of our own health and that of our kids to empower children with the tools they need to live a healthy and long life.

I like things personalized

I really like things that are personalized and I don't just mean like picked for me personally. I mean things that have my name on them. Especially things that I might use at work or at gatherings with lots people. So, I figure most people would also like these kind of things too. So, I bought my drinking buddies personalized bar glasses . I thnk they will really like them, anyway, I hope so.

Working Apparel

When I asked my sister what my nephew might like for Christmas, she told me he was in a school program learning welding. That's cool. I think welders can make a decent living for themselves. Anyway she said he needed welding jackets well, one jacket. I hate buying things that people need...I'd rather buy something they want, but I know their budget is pretty tight so I'm going to see what I can do.

Great Sunroom by Window King

It’s been a long time coming but we finally committed to getting a sunroom built. I’ve wanted it forever, but on the few times we got estimates it was way out of our price range.

Well we also wanted to get our windows replaced with hurricane windows. After many estimates and annoying salespeople, we hired a company called Window King. The price seemed reasonable for their strongest windows and when they came and installed them, they did a great job. They were neat, fast and we were really impressed.

So, we asked about a sunroom. We ended up contracting them to do it, albeit after a little haggling over the price, we are so happy that we did. Their product is simply great! We now have a beautiful 14 x 18 room that I love! We thought the price was good compared to all the other estimates. For under $18k we now have a bright, all weather room where we can hang out during the winter or summer and be comfortable. We should have done this long ago, especially since we are smokers and do not smoke in our house. Check out the video of our project:

I'm proud of myself this year

Usually at this time of year, I am exhausted because of all the hours I spent going to check out christmas sales . But not this year! This year I have done every single bit of my shopping online. I even passed on Black Friday and I think I ended up getting as many good bargains as I usually do. I'm not sure, but I think the online sales were as good as in the stores, but I guess that just depended on what you were looking for. Anyway, I'm proud of shopping behavior this year and it is nice not to be worn out!

Well I'm just about done with all my Christmas shopping. This year is going to be fun. My brother has a girlfriend who has three kids so for the first time in years my parents can actually buy some toys. I volunteered to fill the stockings so that's all I have left to buy except for something for my mom. She does lots of art shows and I was thinking that maybe a cash drawer might be a useful item for her. I'm just not sure yet but it might work.

Art show season

Well the art show season is about over which means I need to go over and help my mom store all her supplies. She loves displaying her stuff at these shows but it really does take a lot to make it look professional. I think that I have bought her most of her display stuff because when she needs something she asks for it on her birthday. The last think I got was retractable banner stands. They are cool though because they are easy to store.

Does anyone know how to clean marble?

I've been doing my fall cleaning to get ready for the holidays and when I got to my bathroom I was stumped. I have a marble tub and show and the countertops are marble as well. I'm not sure when or how it happened but they countertop seems to be marred up. I tried all my cleaning products to no avail. I am afraid to use any abrasives because I think it can scratch easily. Anyone out there have any ideas?

Roadside Assistance

You know a roadside assistance plan is something you never think about until you need it. I am so guilty of this. Yesterday, I was about and about shopping and I went to visit a friend. Don't you know I got a flat tire on my car. To make it worse, when I pulled out my spare, it was flat. So I ended up having to call for assistance. I'm sure glad I bought it this year!

I remember when I was young, every Sunday morning my mom would tear apart the Sunday newspaper clipping coupons. I thought it was a stupid waste of time and for years I was really anti coupon. I know that sounds silly but it's true. However, I have to say that with today's economy it is actually a good habit to have. Nowadays, before I shop for anything, I look for coupons and coupons codes and I have to tell you, my mom gets a really big laugh out of it!
